The Hueytown High School Football Banquet, celebrating a successful 2011 Football Season, was held on Thursday night, January 27th, at North Highlands Baptist Church. After enjoying a delicious steak/chicken dinner, Coach Scott presented the following awards:

Hueytown's Winston, Bedford, R. Rabb named to Class 5A ASWA All-State Team.
Jameis Winston, Brooks Bedford, and Ricky Rabb were named to Class 5A Alabama Sports Writer Association's All-State Team. Chris Rabb and David Evans received Honorable Mention. Jameis Winston and Ricky Rabb were also named to the ASWA's Super 12 Football Team.

Hueytown Golden Gophers named Grand Marshalls for 2011 Hueytown Christmas Parade
On Saturday, December 10th, 2011, the Hueytown Golden Gophers Football Team served as Grand Marshalls for the Annual Hueytown Christmas Parade.
A quote from the Hueytown Chamber of Commerce: "The City of Hueytown is extremely proud of the young men who make up the 2011 H.H.S. Gopher Football team. They have represented our school and community well..... Congratulations Gophers-we are proud of you!"

Jameis Winston named co-MVP at Elite 11
ESPN RISE's Elite 11 is the nation's premier quarterback competition for high school athletes. Notable Elite 11 alumni include Vince Young, Matt Leinart, JaMarcus Russell, Mark Sanchez, Matthew Stafford, Troy Smith and Tim Tebow. Add to that list Hueytown's own Jameis Winston. And, not only was he selected as an Elite 11; but he was named co-MVP along with Tanner Mangum of Eagle, Idaho and Neal Burcham of Greenbriar, Ark. Jameis also received the Best Deep Ball award, at the prestigious camp, which took place on the campus of Pepperdine University, in Malibu, California, July 18-22, 2011. It is reported that Jameis will announce his college commitment decision on Aug. 3 via a live broadcast on one of ESPN's family of channels. He has reportedly narrowed his finalists down to Alabama, Florida State and LSU.
O-Line Spring Carwash a Big Success!
HHS was able to send 14 linemen to Southeastern Line Camp and pay their Guntersville/Cullman camp fee with proceeds from our spring carwash. We want to say a big Thank You! to the Hueytown McDonald's and to all those who came out and supported our car wash.

Open House at the NEW Hueytown High School was a SUCCESS!
Many folks from the Hueytown community turned out on Sunday afternoon, August 14th, to tour the new Hueytown High School.
The people of Hueytown are all proud of the new school. We truly believe it is the most beautiful school in the state!
