Scott Mansell

 

Head Coach/Athletic Director

 

Coach Mansell begins his 20th year of coaching this year, and has been a Defensive Coordinator for 16 years. Coach Mansell played at the collegiate level at Mississippi State and Samford University. Past coaching stops include Walker, Cullman, Sparkman and Bob Jones. Coach Mansell has a son and a daughter. Austin, his 19 year old son, plays football at Jacksonville State. Ashlee, his 14 year old daughter, attends Walker High School.

 

 

Jeff Harris

 

Assistant Head Coach/Receivers

 

Coach Harris begins his second year with Hueytown High School as the Assistant Head Coach and Receivers coach. He started his career as a student assistant coach at Homewood High School where he learned under two Alabama Sports Hall of Fame inductees (Gerald Gann and Bob Newton). During this span Homewood won four region championships and had one appearance in the 1990 State Championship game. Coach Harris began his teaching and coaching career in the Hoover City School system in 1994 after graduating from UAB in Physical Education. He served as the Head Football Coach and Athletic Director at Berry Middle School and finished with winning multiple championships and a winning percentage greater than 70% over a nine year period. Harris also assisted with Running Backs at Hoover High School for four years and experienced four straight trips to the State Championship game and learned the daily operations of an elite football program. Coach Harris became the Receivers coach and Special Teams co-coordinator at Mountain Brook High School in 2003. Mountain Brook led the state in several offensive categories during his time with the Spartans. Harris was selected to coach in the Alabama vs Mississippi All-Star Classic in 2006. Harris left Mountain Brook to become the Head Football Coach and Associate Athletic Director at Oak Mountain High School in 2009.

 

Coach Harris is married to Kristie Harris (14 years). They have a daughter (Maci) and a son (Judson).

 

 

 

Trent Campbell

 

Defensive Coordinator/Secondary

 

Coach Campbell begins his third year at Hueytown as the Defensive Backs coach. Coach Campbell began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at UAB where he assisted with the Defensive Backs and Special Teams. His next coaching job was at Minor High School for two years where he was the Defensive Backs coach and coordinated the coverage portion of the defense. Coach Campbell graduated from Oak Grove High School and attended UAB where he earned a B.A. in History and a Master’s Degree in Education. He is married to the former Valerie Pruden, and they have a daughter, Ivey, that will turn one this year.

 

 

 

  Dustin Goodwin

 

  Offensive Coordinator

 

Coach Dustin Goodwin begins his first season with Hueytown as the Offensive Coordinator and Quarterbacks Coach of the Golden Gophers. Goodwin comes to Hueytown from Homewood High School where he served as Quarterback’s Coach and Offensive Coordinator from 2011-2013. During his tenure at Homewood High School, the Patriots finished the 2012 and 2013 seasons as region champs, and had a record of 12-0 in region play. From 2008-2010, Goodwin served as Quarterback’s Coach at Russellville High School. During his tenure at Russellville High School, the Golden Tiger’s finished 5A State Runner-Up in 2008 and 2009, and had a record of 36-7. He graduated from The University of North Alabama in 2008, earning a BS in Physical Education while playing quarterback for the lions. Goodwin was also a member of the 2004 Auburn University football team. He graduated from Demopolis High School in 2003. He has been married for seven years to his wife Sara K. Goodwin. Sara K. graduated from Auburn University in 2006 and earned her MA at the University of West Alabama in Counseling in 2011. She is currently a counselor for Vestavia City Schools. They have three kids, Whit (5), Colt (3), and Grant (6 months).

 

 

 

Nick Neura

 

Offensive Line

 

Coach Neura played High School football at Shades Valley High School from 2000 -2004. He Played College football at Tusculum College from 2004 - 2008. Coach Neura coached the freshman offensive line at Clay-Chalkville High School from 2008-2009. He then volunteered at the University of Alabama at Birmingham as a student assistant coach from 2009 to 2010. He became a Graduate Assistant football coach at UAB from 2010 to 2012. He then coached the Tight Ends and Offensive Line at Homewood High School from 2012 to 2014. Coach Neura is married to his wife Tricia; they have two children, Payton who is 4 years old, and Nathan who is 2 years old.

 

 

 

Drew Barnett

 

Secondary

 

Coach Barnett is in his seventh year of coaching football, and his second stop at Hueytown. Last season Coach Barnett served as Head Football Coach at Southeastern High School. Prior to Southeastern he served as Defensive Coordinator at Locust Fork High School as well as Linebackers coach at Hueytown High. Coach Barnett received his Bachelor's degree from Athens State in Social Science and his Master's degree in Sports Management from the University of Alabama. Coach Barnett is married to Kayla Barnett and they have one son, Weston.

 

 

 

  Joshua Coger

 

  Assistant

 

Coach Coger graduated from Benjamin Russell High School. He attended Auburn University and earned a degree in mathematics. This will be his second year at Hueytown High School and will be an assistant coach with the football and basketball teams.

 

 

 

  Richard Rabb

 

  Defensive Line

 

Coach Raab is a former player at Hueytown High School as he graduated in 2012. He was a starter at Inside Linebacker for the Golden Gophers. Rabb anchored the defense as the defensive signal caller on team that won 24 games in two seasons. Rabb lead a defense that was perhaps the best in school history statistically. Rabb posted just over a 9 tackle per game average from the inside linebacker position during his high school career. Rick currently is a junior at Miles College in Fairfield, AL where he is a criminal justice major.
