Mark Stephens

 

Head Coach/Athletic Director

 

Coach Stephens was born and raised in Cullman, Alabama. He played Junior College Baseball at Snead State Community College. He was Defensive Coordinator at Holt High School in 2002, Defensive Coordinator at Bob Jones High School in 2003, Defensive Co-Coordinator at Paul Bryant High School in 2004, Defensive Coordinator at Cullman High School from 2005-2008, and Defensive Coordinator Spain Park High School in 2009. Coach Stephens is married to the former Katrina Iacobelli, also from Cullman. They have two children: Annabelle Evelyn Stephens, born July 5th of this year, and John Mark Stephens who is 2 yrs old. Coach Stephens was promoted from Defensive Coordinator to Head Coach this year. He is currently seeking an additional Master's Degree in Educational Leadership at The University of Alabama at Birmingham. His hobbies include waterfowl hunting, retriever training, and anything in the great outdoors.

 

 

 

Trent Campbell

 

Defensive Coordinator/Defensive Backs

 

Coach Campbell begins his second year at Hueytown. He is the Defensive Coordinator and also coaches Defensive Backs. Coach Campbell started his coaching career as a graduate assistant at UAB where he assisted with defense and special teams. He then moved on to coach the DBs for two years at Minor High School. Coach Campbell attended Oak Grove High School where he played football and baseball. He attended UAB where he received a B.A. in History and a Master's Degree in Education. Coach Campbell is married to the former Valerie Pruden.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Jeff Harris

 

Offensive Coordinator/Receivers

 

Coach Harris began his coaching career as a student-assistant in the Homewood City School System shortly after graduating from Homewood High School in 1988, where he was a three-year starter and 1986 State Championship finals team member. He was fortunate to serve both as a player and later as an assistant under two Alabama Sports Hall of Fame inductees (Gerald Gann and Bob Newton). Coach Harris experienced four Region Championships and one appearance in the 1990 State Championship game while coaching at Homewood. Next, he spent nine years in the Hoover City School System. During this time he served as the Head football coach and Athletic Director at Berry Middle School and also assisted with the running backs at Hoover High School. Berry won two league championships outright and split two others under his leadership. Coach Harris also experienced Hoover winning three straight State Championships during this time and learned the daily operations of an elite program. His next stop was at Mountain Brook High School where he coached the receivers for five years. During his time at Mountain Brook he was influenced by several great offensive minds; they led the state in many offensive categories at various times during his tenure. He coached a first team All-State player who set three school records in receiving categories. He was also selected to assist Joey Jones in the Alabama vs. Mississippi All-Star Classic in 1996. Coach Harris left Mountain Brook to become the Head football coach and Associate Athletic Director at Oak Mountain High School in the Shelby County School System in 2009. He served in that role for three years. He is currently in his first year as Offensive Coordinator and Receivers Coach at Hueytown High School.

 

 

 

Joe Hollis

 

Special Teams Coordinator/Offensive Line

 

Coach Hollis begins his first year on the Hueytown Staff. Prior to joining the Golden Gophers, Coach Hollis was the Offensive Coordinator at Haralson County High School in Tallapoosa, GA. Coach Hollis brings 12 years of experience to the Hueytown Staff with eight of those occurring at the collegiate level. He began his coaching career as a student assistant coach at Auburn University working with Bob Petrino and assisting with Auburn's Tight Ends. He was a member of the Auburn University Staff for seven seasons, including spending the last three as the Offensive Graduate Assistant. Some of Coach Hollis' accomplishments include being part of the best five year run in school history winning over 50 games. Also, while Coach Hollis was there, the Tigers accomplished a Perfect 13-0 undefeated season and were 5-2 in bowl games. Coach Hollis then moved on to Georgia Southern University where he was the Offensive Tackles Coach for Head Coach Chris Hatcher.

  Garrett Langer

 

  Linebackers

 

Coach Langer is from Clay, Alabama and attended Clay-Chalkville High School. While attending Clay-Chalkville, he played football and basketball. After graduating in 2007, he attended the University of Alabama and graduated with a degree in Physical Education. He currently teaches Physical Education at North Highland Elementary School. This will be his first season coaching at Hueytown High School. Before coming to Hueytown, Coach Langer coached linebackers at John Carroll Catholic High School. In July of 2013, he was married to Abbey Holland from Trussville, Alabama. He only has one hobby, bass fishing. You can expect to find him on the lake most Saturdays.

 

 

 

  Adrian Pryor

 

  Defensive Backs

 

Coach Pryor is from Athens, Alabama and graduated from Athens High School. He attended Birmingham Southern College. Coach Pryor teaches English and is the Boys Basketball Coach.

 

 

 

  Wayne Davidson

 

  Running Backs

 

Coach Davidson is a 1980 graduate of Pelham High School. He completed his Masters Degree in Education from the University of Montevallo in May, 2012. In the past, he worked in Industrial Sales for 25 years, and has been a coach and administrator in various youth sports for 18 years. Last year at Hueytown High School, he taught Social Studies, was Assistant Wresting Coach and Assistant Girls Softball Coach. For the 2013-2014 school year, he is teaching World History, is Head Wrestling Coach and Assistant Football Coach. Coach Davidson has five children ranging in ages from 22 - 29, and has two grandchildren, ages 3 and 5.

 

 

 

  Brandon Northcutt

 

  Tight Ends/Freshman Head Coach

 

Coach Northcutt is a 1994 graduate of Hueytown High School. While attending Hueytown High, he was a four year letterman in football. His senior year he received the Butch Wilson Award, the Scrambler Award for Best Offensive Lineman, The WSMQ Player of the Game-HHS vs. Jess Lanier High School, and Team Captain. He is a 1998 graduate of the University of Alabama at Birmingham with a Bachelor's Degree in Secondary Education-Mathematics. He also received his Master's Degree in Mathematics in 2003. Coach Northcutt has been coaching football for 18 years. This is the start of Coach Northcutt's 10th season at Hueytown. Coach Northcutt and his wife Dawn have been married for 14 years and have two children. Lexie is eleven and Braden is eight.
